How to Add Tags

A tag is a (relevant) keyword or term associated with or assigned to a piece of information (a picture, a geographic map, a blog entry, a video clip etc.), thus describing the item and enabling keyword-based classification and search of information.

By tagging maps with relevant, descriptive tags, it is easy for people to find all maps meeting certain criteria.

For example: Maps can be tagged with terms such as "puzzle", "defense", "walkthrough", "difficulty:hard", or "fun". Say some friends are totally bored with regular old walkthrough gameplay. With tags they can easily find maps with other gameplay styles for a fresh experience.

You can help out by making sure all maps are tagged, and by creating new tags (no spaces allowed in tags). A full list of currently used tags can be found by going to the Maps page and clicking "+ More map categories" and "+ Timeline of map releases".

Here are some ideas for tagging that would be really helpful:

  • Tag every map with either "difficulty:easy", "difficulty:medium", or "difficulty:hard" based on its difficulty level.
  • Tag every map with either "size:small", "size:medium", or "size:large" depending on how big the map is.

Important suggestion: Tag terms should be broad enough to include a number of other maps, so try not to make them highly specific. Avoid duplicate tags: Don't invent your own tag that means nearly the same thing as an existing one. Also, remember to only apply tags to map pages.
