By default, a map's main image/thumbnail is also used as the blurred page background image. With a growing number of maps using posters/graphic titles for the thumbnail, sometimes it is not always the most suitable as a background.

There is now a way to override the page background to be any image you want. Simply insert this line into the page source (anywhere) and put the desired image filename. You don't need to (and shouldn't) put the full URL.

Generic example:

[[include bg-override image=FILENAMEHERE]]

Example from Echoes:

[[include bg-override image=echoes02-2019-09-10-0001.jpg]]

Example from Frightmanor:

[[include bg-override image=8_frightmanor_shot.jpg]]

Backgrounds are now available to the mapper page template. It is off by default. If you want a background, it can only be done by inserting the override code.

Either upload an image to the page (see prior post), or reference an image somewhere else on the site.

Generic example, image from another page:

[[include bg-override image=map:MAPNAMEHERE/FILENAMEHERE]]

Example from cold_blood3d:

[[include bg-override image=map:infested/0-infested1.jpg]]

Backgrounds are now available to the Tag pages. To select an image, insert the override code on the tag description page (click edit on a tag page) and point to any file on the site. Or you can upload a new image directly to the tag description page. Make sure to use the category:page-name/file internal path so the image works when pulled through to the main tag page.

Examples:

Snow, set up on tag-description:snow

[[include bg-override image=map:oberon/20171203120041_1.jpg]]

Xen, set up on tag-description:xen

[[include bg-override image=tag-description:xen/xenbg.jpg]]

I'm not the best at picking these, but it adds a nice touch if done correctly. Ideally images should emphasize the tag category, be tasteful as a background, and be based on actual game screenshots - although creativity is welcome.
