Very challenging, currently stuck halfway through the surf puzzle. Not sure what to do after ramp 5 when you get to the closed door with the steam vent underneath it?

Hey there, thanks for giving my map a shot! I'm not sure if you want to be told what to do, so I'll drop some hints, then let me know if you want a more direct answer.
Have you tried dropping through the steam vent when it's active? If you stand in front of the closed door with the steam vent below you, take a look directly across from you, does anything look useful or conspicuous to you?
Let me know if you'd like a more direct answer!
That was actually our most recent thought before we took a break, we noticed you got a small "push" from the steam, but must have timed it badly to not get a better launch out of it. Will mess around with it some more. So far though we're enjoying it a lot, like I said it's definitely challenging, but after going at it we got better and better at each puzzle until we could do them consistently. Some cool ideas so far as well, the whole surf puzzle is really cool (albeit tough at first lol)
Glad you're enjoying it so far!
Let me know if you encounter any other pain points: replies here will help others that might have the same issues in the future. Also, remember that the MOTD text for each map has some hints as well!
I thought the ragemap ragebeans was as far as one could go with rage. This map proves me wrong.
EDIT: FAR WRONG.
Hey there! Is there a particular part you found too difficult? I built the puzzles only as difficult as I was able to complete them myself, and I don't think I'm particularly good at HL1 movement mechanics.
If there's some specific feedback you could provide, I can take it into consideration when working on the next map.
We haven't gone back and finished this map yet, but I'm enjoying the toughness so far because while its challenging, it's definitely doable and doesn't feel like cheap artificial difficulty. I would say you definitely need some experience with movement mechanics like surfing and maybe a little bhopping. Haven't done part 3 yet though so I'm not sure what's in store
Well, I find it extremelly difficult if not impossible since I don't know how to bunnyhop or surf. Either way, the part where you have to jump using a steam func_pushable, well the pushable is not strong enough to do it. The part where you get the keycard could be really hard since one has to repeat the puzzle over and over twice because if you die the keycard drops.
The first puzzle with the lasers has the right idea, when someone completes the puzzle another alternate way is unlocked so you can bypass it. This could be added to the rest of the puzzles that don't have it for the people that just can't do anything. But the first one (lasers) also needs a fix because after completion, the lasers are still there, and the door thats supposed to open with the breaking of the computer is closed forever, so there is no shortcut.
We found that almost all of the puzzles do in fact have some kind of shortcut available where you can "burn" a run (or runs) to make subsequent attempts easier or skip part of the puzzle - there's definitely one for the keycard section you mention for example. We ended up using most of these so that our weaker players had a chance to get through the more difficult sections!
For us, it was possible to turn off the lasers completely once the puzzle was completely solved (unless the puzzle broke for you somehow?), and breaking the computer definitely made the puzzle easier for the other players.
Lots of the puzzles do require some circle-strafing, bunnyhopping or surfing, but none of them require really high level skill in any of these - mild to moderate skills are fine. For the surf puzzle in particular, just take it very slowly and make small movements and you'll be able to make it up. There's a shortcut available in that puzzle too, so keep your eye out for it!
As a last tip, while the map can be completed with 2 players, having more is helpful for almost all the puzzles to allow more people to make attempts or to allow stacking past certain obstacles. If you get 3-6 people together, we found we progressed much quicker especially because certain players excel at different kinds of puzzle/movements compared to others (so you only need one good surfer, and one good bunny hopper, for example).
This is pretty rough. Maybe 1% of the people that play this will complete it. And that's playing on a server with save/teleport.
I've noticed a sharp drop in the servers playing this just in the last week. Too hard for the vast majority. Hell, I love KZ maps and this is still too hard for me.
yeah, pretty much what i thought. The only people that were able to complete it probably are the few guys that said so in the comments and thats it. Players evade these maps like if its a dude coughing without mask nowadays.
Hey, I tried playing this map with a friend and we couldn't progress past being on the island. I found a button on a rock that didn't seem to do anything. I can see outlines of brushes too so I can kind of tell where doors/breakables/etc. are but I have no idea what to do.
I feel like I've played .5% of this map.
There are two buttons at the beginning which both need to be pressed, you found one of them. On the opposite (diagonal) side of the island you will find the other button at the bottom of one of the trees.
