This map series was made back in 2003, which is a long, LONG while ago, because of this age the map has a lot that feels… I dunno, kinda, maybe, bad? Like I get it, it was made a while ago, back in the day it was probably pretty cool along with other maps made at that time. However, with the amount of quality maps nowadays, and with how much I've played, I have a pretty significant gripe with this map series. To start off, the architecture is incredibly simplistic, like seriously every room is just a plain box. No slopes, slants, depth, nothing. Furthermore, many parts of the maps are incredibly large, and not in a good way. Like a hallway that takes a solid 30 seconds to walk through and an incredibly large room with nothing in it. This, along with somewhat drab textures, and the previously stated architecture leaves much to be desired. Then to tack on to this the gameplay is extremely tedious and grindy. not enough ammo, and battery pick ups lead to a large number of deaths, and combo'd with the large rooms leads to a lengthy corpse run. Also, on the topic of gameplay and enemies, what is with the profane enemy names? Like every enemy was named something with profanity or insults in it. Like, near the end of the map many of these names were re-used. I'm not sure why every enemy was named like this and what it aims to achieve, but coupled with the rest of the issues lead to the map feeling sorta immature. Like little Timmy's first map, and he just learned that profanity was a thing. To go back to what I mentioned about the actual architecture and map building, there were misaligned textures EVERYWHERE, overlapping textures and more. It felt like it wasn't even play tested for a large portion. There were these random Garg boss fights everywhere, and a lot of the actual building structure made no sense at all. Like what is a factory doing in the middle of a skyscraper? Also these empty large rooms were all stuffed with random prefabs. If you go through the map with a mappers POV, you really start to notice these things. I can sorta, maybe see what people mean by this map being a classic in a small, tiny way. But for someone who only got into sven coop back in 2016, this 'classic' map leaves a lot to be desired, I've played plenty of other old classic maps that were whole levels of quality over this mess of a map. I may be speaking to no one here, but I feel like a lot of these critiques had to have been said for at least the sole reason that no one else was… but seriously what was with the enemy names, it was really weird. 2.2/5
