FAQ

I need help with Sven Co-op.

  • Info about installing Sven Co-op, installing custom maps, as well as tons of other useful client/player support can be found here at Sven Co-op Central.

Do I have to join the wiki to help?

  • No - you can edit the wiki anonymously. Joining is recommended though, because you must be a member to be able to rate and comment maps.

Do I have to understand the wiki syntax code in order to help?

  • Not really. The most you should have to deal with is just going through a template page and inserting information where it says to. Anything else you might encounter is likely available in the editor buttons.

Does the SC Map DB allow work in progress maps?

  • Yes. This helps players learn about upcoming maps and helps mappers get feedback. However, we don't want to clutter the place up with maps that are never coming out, so abandoned maps are put in their own separate area.

Why do you give all the credit to mappers? Other people help too.

  • For the SC Map DB, our niche is maps. We'd rather do one thing right instead of trying to cover everything. However, we fully recognize the efforts of everyone involved. Sven Co-op mapping wouldn't even be possible without the hard work of Valve Software, the Sven Co-op team, texture artists, as well as model and sound designers. Their invaluable contributions are listed in the credits section of each map page.

Can I trust the reliability of this site?

  • While Wikidot does seem very reliable (it's constantly backed up on servers in several different continents), we perform our own full backup every night and store it in multiple locations. This includes all the screenshots on Flickr. If you need additional assurance of the security of your contributions, we would be happy to send you a full .zip backup of the wiki's content.
