Description
Hello and welcome to my third creation, a remade/remake of one of my favorite levels
from Gex 3 Deep Cover Gecko, this map was made on 2 or 3 weeks (i was really busy. In the
6 day the map was already complete but it just needed a few bug fixes before i released the map)
This map is really special for me so please enjoy it and have fun! (possibly army channel level will be created soon…)
AGENT ZERO THE KORAA HUNTER
-MISSION BRIEFING-
In a world where bad guys are armored with miniguns, shotguns and snipers. Wearing smoking and sunglasses at the midnight,
a hero must do a lot of tasks to get opened he's door to relax and watch tv. YOU are that hero, you are in the middle
of a bank robbery to "catch" that criminals, this is not for the children, ladies, fame or glory, it's not for money or fancy super suits,
this is for… wait, if is not for no one of that things… WHY THE %%%% ARE YOU A SUPER HERO??? uhh forgive me of saying nothing WHATEVER,
YOU GOT 3 MISSIONS TO DO IN THIS EXCITING CITY SO LISTEN CAREFULLY:
1.-DEFEAT 5 MIGHTY MUTANTS RELEASED FROM A NEAR DNA SEARCH BUILDING
2.-DEFEAT THE 3 MAD BOSSES LIYNG AROUND OF YOUR SUPER WELL-SECURED HOUSE BACKDOOR
3.-BREAK EVERY ROGUE ROBOT IN THE ZONE BEFORE THEY HURT SOMEONE
-ADDITIONAL MISSIONS-
1.-DEFEAT ALL MAFIA GUYS TO UNLOCK THE MAFIA'S BOSS LOCATION
2.-THAT LITTLE SHELTERS ARE UNDER TESTING, TRY TO BREAK THEM TO GET A REWARD!
3.-THERE IS A EMERGENCY SUPER HERO HIDEOUT ON A ROOFTOP THAT HAS SOMETHING TO HELP YOU TO MOVE BETWEEN ROOFS
4.-THOSE SCIENTIST ARE NOT FRIENDLY AND THAT GLASS CAN'T KEEP THEM AWAY FROM YOUR SUPER SHOCK POWERS
5.-IF YOU NEED SUPLIES, THERE'S AN ABANDONED BAD GUY HIDEOUT NEAR THE BANK, BUT YOU NEED SOMETHING TO BREAK IN
Additional info
-I was completing for 9 time GEX 3 game, then i taked a look at this map and i thinked: huh? i love this map
and almost anything in this game can be recreated in GOLDsource. So, after that, i searched if was already a gex map on sven
coop map database, there was no any map so i went to work and i started to make this project. And after some time i released it
and i was really proud of my job…
-This was originally to be a remaster completly accurate to the original gex level, but for my horrible calculations with the measures of the buildings,
it became a remake since there was too much work already done for when I noticed it.
-Instant break is enabled in some places for the pipewrench.

CHANGE LOG FOR v1.1
-Fixed tree at the start with an enemy display HP
-(temporary)Now spawn point has ammo boxes for handgun and machinegun
-Fixed players getting stuck under window cleaner's plattform
-Now climbable zones has green light to show where you can do it, whatever,
other ones like that buildings with blue texture has no light to keep the original feel of the ps1 map version
-Portals now have numbers to know their destination spot.

-Fixed a water glitch and added a light entity to that zone
-Added Some New structures to give players some protection from enemies with new weapons, special tool required for one of them ;)

To remove annoying retarded sounds create "Dial_A_For_Arson.gsr" in the same directory as *.bsp file
Open it with notepad and insert the following text :

Now open Dial_A_For_Arson.cfg and add the following line
globalsoundlist "../../maps/Dial_A_For_Arson.gsr"
(if you do not have "Dial_A_For_Arson.cfg" create one.)
You can now also comment "//" or remove sounds from the *.res file (40 megabytes for 11 minute music track !)
Overall map is somewhat boring.. ure usually have to kill enemies with high health pool with sniper rifle. As well as, containing some cheap deaths due to crapola level design..
Some issues.
1. I fired this up in my own local server. You only spawn with a single pistol with 17 rounds. So the only thing you can really do is die a bunch of times until you kill one of the first HW guys, then nab their weapon. We should at least be spawning with a regular machine gun with ammo drops at spawn.
2. I got stuck on the elevators that go up and down the side of the building underneath the targets. Whenever one of the elevators reached the bottom, that's when I'd get stuck.
3. Took me a minute to figure out you could climb walls, which you can do in the original Gex game, but there were quite a few deaths figuring out which walls could be climbed and which couldn't. Also, going around corners on the climbable walls was not very functional and I died a lot.
Overall it would be a nice challenge for a few players, but we need a default machine gun at spawn and those elevators need to be fixed. It was interesting to see some Gex material in this game.
Ok, before making my next map i'll goin to check this bugs, the elevator im not sure if you can get stuck there, i tested it before releasing it but it deserve a look.
-Climbing walls, i can't do nothing for now so i will just highlight with green all climbable walls and write it in the motd, for that i want to create a footprint texture to notice the player like the original game.
-For weapons, all are available in those strongboxes, its really easy to eliminate those HW just get close enough with your crowbar and you get almost invulnerable to their damage (a classic sven coop tactic) but i will put some ammo for the handgun but when i figure out how to create custom models, the handgun will be gone in future.
-And finally, that heavy powered tree will be eliminated!!!
EDIT: those heavy weapons guys where replaced with bodyguards so i think you can now progress without doing that technic.
I have played this map with 3 others players and the most annoying thing is the lack of ammo/weapons. Like ratman said, you can't kill them until after dying 5 times for each enemy. I had to add myself a .cfg with sniper rifle and 357 magnum. Finally we were bored after 15 mins and just stopped the game because this is not enjoyable at all.
