Description

It seems we have lost contact with a Police team that were protecting the transfer of UN Special Force weapons. About half way through, they were hit by a major snow storm. This storm caused them to stop, and move the weapons to a near by cave. But it seems a small group of Terrorists were following this cargo, and attacked. They quickly overpowered and killed the team, and then the driver. They are known only as the Arch Angels, said to bring the holy war to the earth, any way they can. They see this way as starting WW3. These are not a normal group, for they have weapons, a team, and what seems to be a leader.

Search the cave, kill the Angels and then stop them from entering the subway, or follow them in…

GENERIC FIXES

Used the original maps as a base to ripent the .ent through import, bypassing the version mismatch errors in the maps ripented by newbspguy's current bug that the ripents of other people are having due to copy pasting brushes. Checked for errors and the maps work fine without version mismatch on servers.
Changed some env_messages to game_text
Changed env_model to item_generic
Changed monstermakers into squadmakers, with proper translated spawnflags
Fixed squadmakers without spawnflags or missing spawnflags, to have proper spawnflags
Changed info_player_start to info_player_deathmatch
Changed env_beam's negative StrikeTime value, to positive values (this could've caused crashes due to overflows)
Changed env_xenmakers that were spawning monsters, into squadmakers with proper external xenmaker entity
Replaced some of the Wayne's models that were identical to default (hwgrunt and hwgrunt_ld) with some other of the default custom hwgrunt models
Removed Wayne's missing soundlist files references in maps, and .gmr and .gsr as well
Gave many alien monsters spawned through squadmakers, a properly colored xenmaker effect
Replaced item_security and brush based item collectibles, with item_inventory
Used Wayne's ripents as a base. His guide arrows and wrong way signs have been replaced with more immersive things like lights, props, breakables with hud displaynames, enemies, etc… Except in maps that have a theme where it would be plausible to have direction signs.
Enemies with humongous amounts of health have been toned down a lot
Maps with low ammo at start have now extra weapons and ammo at spawn
game_text messages have been tweaked to be less intrusive, away from the crosshair, indicating the character name that speaks if intended, and sometimes giving them proper color that indicates ally or enemy.
Typos in game_texts and displaynames have been fixed. Usage of "\n" (new lines) in displaynames has been abolished
Fixed typos on entities making them not recognizable by the game
Fixed netnames when intended to be used as displaynames on old maps. Now you can see those npcs true names!

Fixed spawnflags on all squadmakers
Added xenmakers to alien squadmakers
Fixed radio music loop
Fixed a few ambient generic sounds to loop
Made the music play once and using ambient generic instead of ambient music, because they are just music cues with a couple of seconds length
fortune/blackops.wav was a default sound: radio/of2a5_rd01.wav …this was changed to the default
game_text now is adjusted with better color, character name that speaks and position
Added sounds to some doors
Added lip to some doors that needed it
Texts at the end were split due to them playing at the same time
Replaced brush key with an item inventory remake, and now the key is needed for progress
Added more snowing sprites and changed all to be fixed in their direction. Randomized the speed as well a bit, so make them blend.
Removed a spawnpoint that was in the middle of nowhere at start
Added an extra mini shortcut with the underground door that was not being used

Possible bug?

This map is by the same creator as Cyberspy, so it features several fun secret areas. However, one of them uses a code that apparently isn’t available anywhere, or at least I wasn’t able to find it. I have a code that I believe is correct, but when I try it, nothing happens. Because of that, I’m not sure whether it’s a mistake on my part with the code or an actual bug. If anyone managed to get it working and could let me know, I’d really appreciate it!

Overall, it’s a short and fun map, similar to the Fortune map I’ve already played!

PS: I played both the old version of the server I usually play on and the most recent one (Dec 25, 2024), and I couldn’t get the code on either version. By the way, the updated version is MUCH more fun, as it is significantly more challenging!
