Description

You are in a precarious situation. You were shot down and just managed to somehow land inside the jungle without dying. But unfortunately you are now right next to the Headquarters of the GiC.

Mission Objectives:

1. Destroy the gates blocking your way and move deeper inside the jungle to hide from the enemy
2. Shoot down all air units. This is not a must do but will help you survive your mission.

Additional info

The author remade only the first map, changing some details in it, creating non-matching architectural problems with the following maps 2 and 3, which were never remade. A community fix attempted to solve this issue alongside adding a missing map 4, and also recovering the demo version of the mappack, and the original version of the remade map, which were all missing.

GENERIC FIXES

• Used the original maps as a base to ripent the .ent through import, bypassing the version mismatch errors in the maps ripented by newbspguy's current bug that the ripents of other people are having due to copy pasting brushes. Checked for errors and the maps work fine without version mismatch on servers.
• Changed some env_messages to game_text
• Changed env_model to item_generic
• Changed monstermakers into squadmakers, with proper translated spawnflags
• Fixed squadmakers without spawnflags or missing spawnflags, to have proper spawnflags
• Changed info_player_start to info_player_deathmatch
• Changed env_beam's negative StrikeTime value, to positive values (this could've caused crashes due to overflows)
• Changed env_xenmakers that were spawning monsters, into squadmakers with proper external xenmaker entity
• Replaced some of the Wayne's models that were identical to default (hwgrunt and hwgrunt_ld) with some other of the default custom hwgrunt models
• Removed Wayne's missing soundlist files references in maps, and .gmr and .gsr as well
• Gave many alien monsters spawned through squadmakers, a properly colored xenmaker effect
• Replaced item_security and brush based item collectibles, with item_inventory
• Used Wayne's ripents as a base. His guide arrows and wrong way signs have been replaced with more immersive things like lights, props, breakables with hud displaynames, enemies, etc… Except in maps that have a theme where it would be plausible to have direction signs.
• Enemies with humongous amounts of health have been toned down a lot
• Maps with low ammo at start have now extra weapons and ammo at spawn
• game_text messages have been tweaked to be less intrusive, away from the crosshair, indicating the character name that speaks if intended, and sometimes giving them proper color that indicates ally or enemy.
• Typos in game_texts and displaynames have been fixed. Usage of "\n" (new lines) in displaynames has been abolished
• Fixed typos on entities making them not recognizable by the game
• Fixed netnames when intended to be used as displaynames on old maps. Now you can see those npcs true names!

a_jungle

• Used Garompa's version as a base
• Added changes by Wayne (mild changes, mostly just guide arrows)
• Modified the guide arrows into more immersive hints (lights, barriers, glows, props), and removed others that were redundant
• Replaced key from map 1 with item inventory, and fixed the annoying door that wasn't working correctly
• Added an anvil and some rope to mark where there are climbable ropes in map 1, and removed them in map 3 along with the ropes, because map 3 revisits the area from map 1 but its slightly different because its from an older version, so the ropes looked odd. But don't worry, those ropes were unnecessary at that point.
• Fixed some repel entities not being triggered because they were squadmakers. Now they are repels again

• Fixed overflowing damage numbers on doors and trigger_hurts so they don't heal the player instead of gibbing them.

a_jungle_1:

• During the respawn event, several trigger_once were used at different origins, causing players to trigger respawn/first spawn deactivation events before even activating a secondary spawn, resulting in softlock because of lack of spawnpoints (really, what the hell?). This was fixed by replacing all those trigger_once with just one. that activates a multi manager that controls all those events triggering them at once.

General fixes:

• Merged external sequence and texture files of models
• Cleaned up the worldspawn entity
• Reorganized file paths
• Changed .wav sounds to .ogg, saving some space and download times
• Removed scale value from explosive crate gibs
• Added missing motd files (the ones that existed)
• Translated the first motd file into english (was german)
• Added missing skill file (only the one from map 3 existed)
• Created .gmr and .gsr files for organized replacements
• Added missing weapon models
• Added missing npc models
• Fixed hgrunt, massn and robogrunt models: Added bodygroups and missing weapons for compatibility with SC5.0+, also replaced some of their weapons with the custom ones from this mappack
• Fixed the 1911 world model (a v_ 1911 model was being used as a w_ model)
• Added current default colorable Sven hands to the weapon models
• Added some enemies from the demo version so they use the unused robogrunt model
• Fixed some brushes having squadmaker properties
• Fixed displaynames for monsters since some were using the old netnames
• Added displaynames for custom enemies that did not have them
• Added a custom vietnamese hwgrunt enemy model
• Removed unused files
• Added missing files
• Generated new .res files
• Made text hints more understandable in order for players to find the places they talk about
• Changed game_text positions so they don't intrude with the crosshair
• Fixed some monstermakers not working properly by changing them into squadmakers
• Added teleport effect for aliens
• Made human NPCs unable to appear out of nowhere more than once
• Added level change sign sprites
• Replaced grenade launcher ammo, to compensate for the old lack of m16 back in the day, and because the ak47 custom model didn't have a launcher which made even less sense
• Changed huge amounts of wait times in buttons, breakables and doors to proper flags and infinite timers (wait 999999999 to wait -1)
• Muted vietnamese grunts so they don't speak english
• Uploaded the old version of the first map for archiving purposes. The remade version of the first map is part of the mappack as has always been, preserving server and client files and no mismatch error will be given :)

a_jungle_1:

• This map is confirmed as a remake of the original first map, and the only remade map that exists. Since it has been shipped with the non remade maps from 2003 always and because it is a more detailed version, this map will be kept in this mappack replacing its older counterpart instead. The older map has been uploaded in a separate download but that one has not been fixed.
• Added a better hint to where the key is
• Added a portal effect at the changelevel, to make more sense
• Added a portal effect when players are forced to respawn, to make more sense
• Changed the apache sound so it is not that annoying
• Readded the custom robogrunts from the demo

a_jungle_2:

• Fixed fire sound, sprite and brass of the a_jungle_2 roof turret
• Added an ending portal effect to make sense with the transition of going back to a_jungle_1 remade areas in a_jungle_3
• Changed the apache sound so it is not that annoying

a_jungle_3:

• Added a portal and xen details at the spawn to make more sense compared to a_jungle_1 remade
• The first map a_jungle_1 from 2003 is the only map that was remade at a later date, and since the same area is revisited in a_jungle_3 (which in comparison is not remade and is old), things did not match with that new remade version of the first map, specifically the new tanker model used in place of the truck. This has been fixed in a_jungle_3 by replacing the truck with the new tanker, but be careful it is very flammable :)
• Readded the custom skybox texture from the demo
• Moved snark spawns to the actual nests

a_jungle_4:

• Added the missing map a_jungle_4 !!
• Fixed some massns and barnabus stuck because of a prisoner flag
• Added a proper end portal effect
• Changed correct portal activation button sound

a_jungle_5:

• Added an important hint to where is the button for the vent
• Added a better changelevel portal effect
• Fixed env_laser effects in a machinery near spawn
• Fixed a portal sound starting too early because of a bad targetname
• Angled spawn points correctly

a_jungle_6:

• Angled the spawnpoints correctly
• Added a better changelevel portal effect

a_jungle_7:

• Added a trigger_hurt_remote for the controller since the controller tended to not be hit by the laser
• Added a trigger_hurt_remote for alien slaves when the controller dies
• Added spawn portal and effect to make more sense with the previous map
• Fixed end game text

parts 2-7 are uploaded here now.

Edit: a_jungle_4 is still missing, but map 3 skips to map 5 anyway, so maybe it never existed.

Thanks to Nih, we got all the missing maps back!
So I have uploaded the next:

• Demo version: Repacked the mappack of the demo including missing files, mostly for archiving. Contains the first 3 maps. These ones are named differently originally: a_jungle1, a_jungle2, a_jungle3

• Original version's lost first map: Since the uploaded pack here always had the first map but it was the remake, I have uploaded the original non-remade version in a separate download for archiving purposes.

• Ripent fix and recovery: Made a ton of fixes and added the missing a_jungle_4. This also includes the first map remake as always but now all maps are correctly connected
