Description
It is very late and you are just now getting to sleep. But then suddenly you remember, you have work early tomorrow but you have no clean clothes. Luckily you know of a place that is open 24 hours, the hard part will be entertaining yourself during the wash and dry cycles…
Additional info
This is my first map release, I've done plenty of stuff I never thought was good enough to release so I'm excited to finally have something out there. It was initially conceived as a hang out map but it sort of became a secret map, I tried to keep all my secrets really easy to find though.
I hope you like it!
Additional credits
Dunkelschwamm for lots of texture and sound work and all the models. Plus playtesting and general advice.
Sparks for some help, specifically with the tripmine room.

would be cool if there was a vote if you want to go home with your clothes because i was 2 keys away from collecting all 30 of them :(
other then that the map is really great, trying to find all the keys is fun (it can take some time but hey i just like collecting everything) , and i would take any lounge map over another YABMA nw.wad map, but that's just my opinion, goldsrc benefits more from silly and vivid/surreal areas then your typical research facilities
Me agree with two things me see below. Dis map too dark and no fun shapes. Me scared of dark so me no likey.
Me think dis game need more pictures and noisy people in map. Maybe some pdf papers or slideshows to explain more about game?
Also, me want more grunt people laying around map, even if it make game go slow. Me like when there's lots of action and noise!
And don't forget the puzzles! Me like to solve puzzles in game, it make me feel smart.
Impressive comment! I wonder how long it took you to come up with it.
The map being dark is actually a good thing. And adding grunts for no reason would just be a bad thing. You should stick to solving puzzles, rather than spamming SC Map DB with fake accounts that are worth more than their creator.
I like this map as it it is now. I think it could easily be one map I would recommend every new and old player to try if it had a more diverse and entertaining gameplay (shooting turrets with 3000+ HP in a crowded room with the door that automatically closes is not particularly fun). The map would also greatly benefit from having more work put into its mapping, it makes exploration really more pleasant and rewarding. Most importantly, there is some basic mapper mistakes that really ought to be solved (doors opening the wrong way and blocking the player between a create and a door for instance, or unbreakable vents that share the same texture with the breakable ones).
I played this map and get bored, too dark and need polish in many parts (most of the doors doesn't have any sound, the player can be stuck on them, the window ones when moving are visible because we see them inside the largest windows on the side etc…)
No atmosphere, the map is too silent and going from one room to another looking for keys is not a bad idea, but the way it has been created is boring in the long run. Same room, same things everywhere
I must first admit that I did not finish through the map yet, as the other player got bored and left.
It’s a shame though, as I really enjoy this kind of maps that departs from the traditional and sometimes too basic linear gameplay. This map is open with a lot of things to explore, at each player’s individual pace. Meanwhile, your most urgent priority -getting your laundry cleaned- is being taken care of.
The van that automatically adds any weapon you pick up in the map is also a very nice detail.
The map is far from perfect though, and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who’s either new to Sven Co-op or not particularly into this genre of maps. The reason for that is threefold:
- The mapping is way too basic and generally looks just okay: it’s mostly empty and barren (it could be improved without going crazy on the wpoly count), there is not enough attention to details, textures do not always have a meaning (certain vents break while others don’t), doors open the wrong way, some missing faces on top of certain shelves…
- There is no sound atmosphere. You should add ambient sounds (and maybe some music)! It would be really quick to fix.
- Part of the gameplay is still too basic. Rooms generally look similar, and the pattern of opening room, killing a lot of overhealthed enemies inside and finding the key soon becomes too apparent. There should be more to explore, more details that differ from room to room, and also more interesting gameplay apart from shooting at enemies and throwing grenades to open doors. I know that you are limited in terms of manpower and wpolys, but a lot could still be done. The part with the Bradley was fun though.
I'm glad there's people making more of these exploration maps, not only for Half-Life/Sven Co-op but for other games and seeing this map just drop was a great surprise, just beign in the right mood for a map like this made me really invested into it, every corner there was a nice surprise (or just getting ripped by aliens).
The exploration aspect is laid out somewhat sensible, understanding how GoldSrc maps need to be structured in order to maintain acceptable performance is necessary in a multiplayer environment (although my playthrough was solo), like these streets that connect to motel area. Playing this map you'll won't really fell lost in it despite the amount of areas and rooms that it provides.
In the side of secret hunting it is pretty balanced, nothing too easy but not completely out-of-the-way ones that requieres extremily precise movement tricks, or just having to spam the USE key and crowbar everywhere (Though you might just end up doing this anyway in one specific section).
Finally i somehow manage to get all the keys, but then nothing really happens at that point apart from packing your clothes and going home?, unless i'm missing something really obvious (probably the case).
You should definitely give this map a try if you haven't already, there's a lot a places to go and hopefully in the future more things can be added into this map, after the rushed released (and many toilet seats that opens in the wrong direction lol).
Overall a great map to hangout with friends and figure out everything it has to offer.

I liked the premise, it reminds me of a certain horror game I can't remember the name of. The creepy atmosphere was pretty well done, the sheer darkness and silence never fails to creep me out with these sorts of things. I would recommend a little more ambience though, especially to accentuate the change in locations (being in an alleyway should sound different than being in a diner, etc.) Maybe some more hum from the lights? Or some crickets in the crop section.
I think the main area at least could use a tad bit more lighting too, since I was running out of flashlight battery the entire map. Real dark maps like these need a good balance of light to no light in areas of interest so you're not constantly cursing the battery system for killing your light, hehe.
Some of the little touches you added were nice, like the light shafts in certain areas and the glow from headlights of some vehicles, it made the visuals pop a little more and look more refined. I remember you pointing that sort of stuff out in one of your reviews, so it makes sense you'd value it here when creating your own map.
There was a point after playing for a while already where I realized this map was way bigger than I thought. I was fighting in a room for a while, and when I stepped out I was in a different area that connected to the main area, and there was way more to see. This was a cool moment and it was something that the pitch blackness of the map lent itself to pretty well.
There was a place where I could look through the wall into the diner next door, because the faces for the wall weren't being drawn (it's the building with the red door). I also don't know if it's intended for the players to start with weapons, since you find weapons from exploring (and because why would you bring a gun to a laundromat?).
Without spoiling anything, this map had more than I expected and it was pretty good. I enjoy maps like this since they're more exploration based, that goldsrc feel still scratches a certain itch all this time later. I hope you continue to update and release more, especially like this.
