Description
Phantasmish attempts to capture the feeling of Phantasm, a Duke Nukem 3D usermap which uses many tricks that seem to be physically impossible. The gameplay is partly inspired by Metroid Prime. Most of the world is available initially with more areas available as items are retrieved.
Additional info
- Phantasmish received BOMS status on the Sven Co-op forums.
- Slower computers may have trouble running this map due to high r_speeds.

Lol. I finally figured out how you finish the map. Very clever.
I decided to replay this yesterday.
Why?
I placed a static desert eagle and hand grenade pick-ups in the spawn area as the lack of weapons is what pissed me off most of all about this map. (no I didn't touch the banana bomb)
Did it make a difference?
YES! I could actually shoot the snipers instead of being killed 17 times over by them. Only once I took out these assassins could I appreciate the puzzle element of the map, and to be fair, it's pretty well done. It's not too linear so you don't get some spazz rushing the map, you actually have to explore about.
It involves finding 3 coloured keys to unlock new areas, and having to overcome a BIG surprise at the end.
If only this map was longer.
Suggestion for FourthLetter: please give us a weapon at the start.
Thanks,
Adam Reece.
I loved it, but that may be because I played with one other person and not on my own or with 20 other people.
Although the map is visually nice and seems to display a lot of good effort, I didn't enjoy playing this map at all.
- Weapons: Only found 1, and I had to make 9 attempts before I could get it, thanks to 5 snipers consistently pushing me off the tiny ledges with their cannon-like head shots.
- Combat: 1x 357 magnum vs 15+ male assassins with M16's? No thanks.
- Traps: I like this part, very me. Combined with the lack of weapons without near impossible jumping while dodging punches to the face of sniper fire made them suck when I fell through one and had to get the only weapon again.
Gave up playing 15 minutes in, didn't get very far. I'm sure my death count would have been 3 times higher if it wasn't for a very high level on XP mod.
Sorry, but 1 star from me - and that's for the visual design.
Thanks,
Adam Reece.
