these dudes , grunt and hezus really know how to make a fun map
REALLY loved the submarine part with the puzzles, great stuff! More of this please, could make a whole map like this, like an hour long playtime :'D or collection of these in a single map. We enjoyed this too much!
Iron Lung part was pretty cool to see that realized in sven coop, amazing! The mechanics were very well executed and it was genuinely fun! Felt great playing it although a bit difficult.
Dungeon: Felt cool having so many classes and the potion screen was pretty cool too. The dungeon looked good.
Scraps collecting: Great atmosphere in my opinion with the music feels good when you start here. And the sharks give you something to snack on while searching scrap.
Flamethrower part: Neat dodge and enemies mechanics felt like a boss fight.
Overall those were pretty good ideas and hope to see more creativity like this!
Now sadly our experience was a bit hindered by these aspects (just my opinion):
Really seems dependent on how many people play this, with a few it's rather difficult and tedious (for example: scrap collection is so boring after you made like 4 trips already if youre playing with low player count)
Overall it felt a bit unstable as well.
Dungeon: Too difficult for low player count and hits don't feel like they hit, for example the bow. I like the potions. Also Melee class seemed really bad compared to mage. Archer also felt really weak. Didn't try second class. Also crashes can happen here easily, it seems. Also the flies were weird, couldn't seem to get rid of them.
Scraps: it becomes more of a tidy up your room thing (especially with few people) and the items are a bit random, seems if someone dies with an item it bugs out as well? Also could maybe have a few more mechanics to get O2 (like the one you have to activate)
Flamethrower part: I guess it's alright if you play it once or twice(?) but again far too difficult! We were three players and it was just really annoying playing it.
Submarine puzzles: Only other complaint than wanting more of this style: Too short time! You should be able to choose between Casual (no timer or something like 30-45 minutes) and Speedrun, 15 minutes is really a bit short.
Iron lung: we ran out of oxygen, it feels like there isn't enough of O2 as it ran out rather quickly (we got only three of the "?" then died soon after) Also even with three players it felt kind of low on space. Thus not sure if you should play this map with many players (dungeon, scraps) or few.
Overall pretty cool atmosphere, some really great parts but others have severe bugs and overall balancing issues.
Played it both solo and with people, however I will base this post on my playthrough with other players.
Like the title points out, I personally found it really pretty and nice, like the transition between levels and the underwater settings. One really stands out despite having very little to do with the water theme.
Extremely complicated as a solo player, however I still think it's good they kept it co-op required since that's the whole point of the game. I thought it was worth mentioning so players become aware that teamwork is very important in this map.
My favorite parts were the dungeon, steam barrel boss and the submarine escape. Both the Xeno Lung and Rage level were a bit hit or miss, but the worst was the scrap collecting a.k.a. fetch quest. Again, nothing wrong with how the map looked, it's just that they could have made the map a bit smaller or reduce the number of items to collect. Even with 4 players, it felt more like a chore than anything fun, and don't get me started on the respawning sharks, or as I like to call them, Sharts.
About the items in both the Scrap and Escape map, I don't think they return if you die. In the submarine, someone died and lost the battery and we couldn't find it again and ended up softlocking ourselves. Another thing to mention is that sometimes hitting the colored pipes in the right order sometimes won't open the door. We kept trying up to no avail.
However, when things work out properly, it's a good team puzzle map.
The only issue I had with the dungeon was the wizard class. It consumes too much mana for so little damage. Archer is the same except it has more spare ammo. Otherwise really fun and chaotic part as a party.
I enjoyed the barrel boss. Becoming a vortigaunt was very cool. Bombs were a bit annoying but overall a very nice part for me.
Xeno Lung could have been a nice experience had it not been for the monitor. I think it would have been better to increase its duration when using it or have it on at all times but it consumes electricity and have to recharge it with a lever or a treadmill (like with the other lever that keeps you afloat).
This entry is a lot smaller and I know it's awfully rude to compare it to the other ones, but since it has less sections, the bad parts outweight the good ones, and the issues mentioned above make it seem like it was kind of rushed or had little testing.
And I know it's even more awful to hear this from someone who doesn't have a lick of experience in mapping.
Overall for me, it is a 3/5. I'll mention it again, the theme and look of the maps were really good, it just needs a few tweaks on the gameplay side. Please don't let my opinion discourage you.
All 4 players crashed during the third (medieval theme?) challenge and failed it
