Random Map Selector 2
Author | cold_blood3d |
Date of release | November 11, 2004 |
.bsp filename | random_map2 |
Description
Map made for the Cafe of Rabid Snarks.
Fight your way to the random selection control room.
Start the randomization by pressing the computer keypad.
1 of over 100 possible high-quality maps will be chosen randomly and the map will change.
Instead of an instant map change, there is about a 25% chance of there being a mapvote. You will be transported to a room with a number of maps to vote for. Each room's maps are a themed category. To vote, kill the rat of the map you want.
If the map does not change or gets stuck in a change, this is not a problem. Just wait 4-5 minutes and the map will reset. If this unsuccessful, the server will automatically reset.

Since now rock the vote exists, and other plugins, random map selector maps and such things I believe have become obsolete and unused, specially since snark cafe doesn't exist anymore and also since it could happen that some map doesn't exist anymore. So I have uploaded an alternate version that makes this map just end after pushing the button instead of changing to a random map, so it can be played on any server without issues.
Thanks. Probably best to treat it as a generic walkthrough map for most servers. The list of maps is definitely very outdated. I remember there's a bug in the original's selection/vote logic wherein if a map got selected that didn't exist, sometimes that prevented any other map change from working. If the changelevel became stuck, the solution was to force crash the server (by spawning an absurd number of entities), with the expectation that Serverdoc would auto restart the server. SnarkCafe used to crash constantly with all their plugins back in the day.
