Description
The basic idea for this map is as old as 2005, I started working on it during summer 2007 and now it's a great relief to finaly be able to release it to the Svencoop-community (and my friends won't nag me anymore for spending too much time on mapping ).
You are a Special Forces team that is sent to a mountainous area in the dessert to stop an illegal experiment. The mission starts inside your helicopter just before reaching the landing zone. I did much work on the terrain as this was supposed to be mainly an outdoor map. It took 26 hours(!) to compile so I hope there are no obvious bugs. There shouldn't be as I've tested it several times.
Story:
A separatist group of the military has been discovered experimenting with some kind of interdimensional portal in the mountains. Since we don't want a new Black Mesa accident your team has been assigned with the task to destroy the portal. Be prepared to encounter both human and alien resistance.
You'll be inserted by chopper at 10:00 PM.
You need to be at least 2 players to complete due to one of the puzzles. Have fun and please tell me what's nice and what can be improved.

This is a really nice little map by Swedish Soldier, it's not huge but it's very nicely filled out with a satisfying mix of combat, exploration and a couple of small puzzles and skill tests. It's possible to complete it SP on XPM servers, but it's more fun if you are a small Coop team. 4 is about the limit though..
You find yourself dropped into a rocky ravine by Apache helecopter, and you are immediately pitted against Human and Alien forces alike, including the dreaded headshot-massn snipers, raging gonomes, a minigarg, Hgrunts and a tank (which can be reluctant to die, and sometimes gets its barrel jammed in the fencing) - all of which make for an interesting and rewarding game.
Everything works the way it should, except for the tank which is sometimes indestructible, and one really jarring and flow-breaking forced respawn into the middle of a room, having successfully destroyed the Alien portal.
I hope Swedish Soldier approves; I have taken the liberty of removing the forced respawn, and instead made the teleporter reverse direction so that you can return from the final battle by the same means you arrived. I made no other changes, except to add 50 AP to the cfg file. (Download labelled "Tweaked version")
This is a nicely designed and executed map, try it out! If you get stuck after the tank, follow the 'Additional Info' link to the forum page - the answer awaits..
An excellent effort! Worthy of release with Sven, in my opinion.. with a few tweaks this could be a classic!
Very good - I won't spoil it, except to add a hint where I (and others) got stuck.. and the hint is to follow the "Additional Info" link! ;)
A really enjoyable adventure, some nice thinking on the mapper's part! Challenging for some tight combat points (snipers who leave their cliff nest and sneak up behind you) as well as "What the hell now??" moments..
Good work! Shame it's not been extended, it would be even better if there was more of the same quality as this..
