Map review of Lift Lifters 50 50 Xsus

Lift Lifters 50 50 Xsus, or Lift Lifters as I will be calling it henceforth, is a map credited to the famous RNG and the infamous Robootto. How much of it was based on either's input, I have no idea. What I will say is that this is among some of my least favorite of RNG's work, and easily my favorite of Robootto's that I've played so far.
The map is made up of challenges divided by massive lifts, hence the name. I don't think Robootto or RNG could have predicted the nightmare that would become Sven Co-op's elevator physics, which often cause players to become stuck in the elevator when it stops, making every map with a lot of elevators far more stressful than they need to be. Therefore, I cannot blame them for making a map around ridiculous lifts- which, as far as lifts go, are quite fun to look at and are hilarious in their theming- such as a large marble platform which slides up and down four marble pillars. If you walk into a room and see a button, it's usually a safe bet that that button means the room is a lift. If you find yourself stuck in a lift, simply press C, 1, and 7 in that order to unstick yourself.
The obstacles in this map are usually rooms full of enemies which the lifts rather hastily throw you into. The first room, full of Barnabuses, could have been a bit galling, but as we leapt up onto and behind some surrounding columns we found we had adequate cover to kill all of the enemies. In fact, throughout the map my teammate and I really managed to keep from dying. I'd say that the map may even be a tad too easy for most players. After the Barnabus fight, there's shock troopers, and later voltigores, and even later a battle with a gargantua, but each consecutive battle feels easier than the last. Thankfully the players have enough equipment to handle the situations as they arise.
This map does have a very straight-forward pillar-stairs platforming scenario which, if you're not a fan of platforming, may put you off. There's water put at the bottom of the room, so falling won't damage you unless you fall on another player. These kinds of thoughtful considerations are not common in Robootto maps, so it was doubly appreciated by me in this.
I wouldn't say that any of this map is particularly good looking, but there's some parts that look pretty fun. I like the white marble rooms, and there's a bit early on where the room looks like a giant ribcage. There's a lot of scale to the lifts, too, which has a striking and memorable quality about it.
Overall, Lift Lifters is an adequate map that at times manages to be fun and charming. I don't know how much of this is because I associate Robootto with far lower expectations- it may be that this map is only pulling off what is normally beginner's charm and I'm letting it slide because of relativity. Either way, if you're looking for a very short map to play with a friend, this one might work. If you're looking for a map for your server list, the fact that it attempts to railroad things into one of Robootto's map series at the end may deter you from putting it into a rotation.
Pros:
- Some fun visuals
- Players are well armed for each battle
Cons:
- The map is mostly elevator rides in a game where elevators are universally half-broken
- The battles range from easy to boring
- I don't like that this map tries to get you to play other Robootto maps. This one has a chance, don't let the others drag it down.
