Big Room Guy 3 is a hangout map for Sven Co-op featuring two skateparks and one skateboard between them- and NO they may not share. Skate around inside of an indoor skatepark, becoming the envy of your friends and enemies alike. Walk around in an outdoor skatepark, wistfully wishing you either could bring the skateboard outside or at least open any of the doors out here.

The indoor skatepark includes the basic accoutrement one may expect: rails, quarterpipes ramps, the works. There's also a bar with taps which make funny sounds. This interior looks pretty nice, is conveyed simply, and doesn't do anything all that crazy. Even if you're not the lucky motherfucker who grabbed the skateboard, you can still run around and have fun jumping around or getting run over by the rad bitch zooming around on the skateboard.

If you go outside to the outdoor skatepark there are more ramps and stuff, but some of them are taller and thus less accessible to non-skateboarded players, and also skateboardless- making everybody out here non-skateboarded players. Still, this exterior has a couple fun spots to jump around on and some fun aesthetics like a big topiary in the shape of a G. Still, it leaves me wishing there were more to do in the map.

There was also an annoying soundbite comedy clip mocking Tom Cruise. I don't have particularly positive feelings toward Tom Cruise or any desire to come to his defense, but I also feel like Tom Cruise jokes feel pretty dated now, a full 22 years after this map was originally made. I think now, nearly a quarter century later, I can attest that the joke did not age. W/e, it's just an easteregg anyway.

Overall, I think this is a pretty chill hangout map. You could probably do better, but you could probably do worse, especially for the time it was made. The skateboard is shockingly functional, and frankly I think that's the main thing this map had to get right.

Pros:

  • The skateboard fucking rules
  • Nicely constructed skatepark ramps and equipment
  • Nice indoor environment
  • Nice outdoor environment

Cons:

  • Pretty limited interactivity overall, especially for supporting multiple people
  • Two skateparks with only one skateboard between them, sorta makes the skateboardless skatepark feel pointless
Score: 6.2 / 10
